PROCEDIMIENTO PARA EL AISLAMIENTO Y PURIFICACION DE ACIDOS LIBRES A PARTIR DE SUS SALES POR ELECTRODIALISIS MEDIANTE UN CONJUNTO DE CELDAS DE 4 COMPARTIMENTOS, FORMADAS POR APILAMIENTO DE MEMBRANAS ANIONICAS ALTERNADAS CON MEMBRANAS CATIONICAS, RECIRCULANDOSE POR (A) UNA DISOLUCION GENERADORA DE PROTONES, POR (B) AGUA O UNA DISOLUCION DILUIDA DEL ACIDO O AISLAR, POR (C) UNA DISOLUCION ACUOSA DE LA SAL DEL ACIDO A AISLAR Y POR (D) UNA DISOLUCION ACUOSA DE UNA SAL, CARACTERIZADO PORQUE TANTO EL ANOLITO COMO EL CATOLITO ESTAN CONSTITUIDOS POR UNA DISOLUCION ACUOSA DE UNA SAL DE LA MISMA COMPOSICION EN AMBOS CASOS Y PORQUE AL APLICAR UNA DIFERENCIA DE POTENCIAL ENTRE LOS ELECTRODOS, SE PRODUCE LA MIGRACION DE LOS IONES DE FORMA QUE SE OBTIENE UN ACIDO LIBRE PURO EN EL COMPARTIMENTO (B). EL PROCEDIMIENTO PERMITE OBTENER ACIDO LIBRE SIN COEXISTIR CON SU SAL EN UN MISMO COMPARTIMENTO, LO QUE AUMENTA SU PUREZA. EL PROCEDIMIENTO ES ADECUADO PARA PURIFICAR MULTITUD DE ACIDOS, ESPECIALMENTE EL ACIDO IMINODIACETICO (IDA).
