SE PRESENTA UN METODO Y UN APARATO PARA LA REDUCCION DIRECTA DE OXIDOS DE METAL QUE UTILIZA UN HORNO GIRATORIO, ALIMENTADO CON PASTILLAS DE MATERIAL EN CRUDO, EL HORNO TIENE UN EXTREMO DE SUMINISTRO Y UN EXTREMO DE DESCARGA. UNA PRIMERA CAMARA EN EL INTERIOR DEL HORNO, QUE SE ENCUENTRA SITUADA ADYACENTEMENTE AL EXTREMO DEL SUMINISTRO, SE USA PARA SECAR, PRECALENTAR Y ENDURECER LAS PASTILLAS DE MATERIAL EN CRUDO. LAS PASTILLAS DE MATERIAL EN CRUDO SE SUMINISTRAN AL INTERIOR DE LA PRIMERA CAMARA USANDO UN MECANISMO CONVENCIONAL. EL EXTREMO DE SUMINISTRO ESTA CERRADO PARA EVITAR LA SALIDA DE LOS GASES DEL PROCESO A LA ATMOSFERA E INTRODUCE LOS GASES DE LA ATMOSFERA AL INTERIOR DEL HORNO. UN PRIMER QUEMADOR SE UTILIZA PARA SECAR, PRECALENTAR Y ENDURECER LAS PASTILLAS DE MATERIAL EN CRUDO EN EL INTERIOR DE LA PRIMERA CAMARA. UNA SEGUNDA CAMARA, ADYACENTE Y CONECTADA CON LA PRIMERA CAMARA, QUE TIENE UN DIAMETRO MAYOR QUE LA PRIMERA CAMARA, SE USA PARA REDUCIR LAS PASTILLAS, LA SEGUNDA CAMARA SE ENCUENTRA SITUADA DE FORMA ADYACENTE AL EXTREMO DE DESCARGA. UN SEGUNDO QUEMADOR PUEDE USARSE PARA REDUCIR LAS PASTILLAS EN EL INTERIOR DE LA SEGUNDA CAMARA. LAS PASTILLAS REDUCIDAS SE DESCARGAN DESDE EL EXTREMO DE DESCARGA.
