CUANDO SE POLIMERIZA BUTENO-1 SOLO O JUNTO CON CANTIDADES MENORES (POR DEBAJO DE 10 % APROXIMADAMENTE) DE OTROS MONOMEROS NO SATURADOS, SE PUEDE UTILIZAR UNA COMPOSICION DE ZIEGLER-NATTA COMO CATALIZADOR DE ALTO RENDIMIENTO, EN EL QUE SE HA POLIMERIZADO HIDROCARBURO LIQUIDO QUE TIENE 5-12 ATOMOS DE CARBONO POR MEDIO DE UNA COMBINACION DE UN COMPUESTO DE TITANIO TETRAVALENTE SOLIDO, SOPORTADO SOBRE MGCL2, UN COMPUESTO DE ALUMINIO ORGANICO, Y POSIBLES DONADORES DE ELECTRONES. CON ESTA COMPOSICION DE CATALIZADOR PREPOLIMERIZADO SE PUEDE POLIMERIZAR BUTENO-1, EN ESPECIAL EN FASE GASEOSA. LA COMPOSICION DE CATALIZADOR OBTENIDA Y EL POLIMERO DE BUTENO-1 FINAL SON ALTAMENTE CRISTALINOS Y NO SE ADHIEREN UNO A OTRO, Y ASI SON FACILMENTE MANEJABLES Y MAS FLUIDOS. LAS PROPIEDADES MECANICAS DEL PRODUCTO POLIMERO, TAL COMO DUREZA, MODULO ELASTICO, RESISTENCIA A LA TENSION, PUNTO DE REBLANDECIMIENTO, RESISTENCIA AL IMPACTO, ETC, SON ALTAS, Y LAS PROPIEDADES OPTICAS, TALES COMO TRANSMISION DE LA LUZ, SONIGUALMENTE BUENAS.
