High-capacity tape-recorder recording/replay apparatus. It comprises a plurality of recording and replay heads corresponding to the subdivision of the longitudinal tracks of the magnetic tape into a larger number of tracks, of adequate width for recording of the signals, at the appropriate velocity. The electronic circuit of the apparatus comprises a digital control unit for governing the drive amplifiers corresponding to the heads, with inputs for a detector of insertion of the magnetic tape and for a final detector of tape run-out, and outputs for control of tape take-up. The number of recording/replay heads, as well as the number of strips of reduced width formed on the tape, is an even number. Applicable to the recording of a very high number of analogue or digital electrical signals.
