EN EL PROCEDIMIENTO DE EXTRACCION LIQUIDO - LIQUIDO DE GALIO A PARTIR DE LEJIA DE ALUMINATO DE SODIO RESULTADO DE LA PRODUCCION DE ALUMINA SEGUN EL PROCEDIMIENTO BAYER CON AYUDA DE UNA FASE ORGANICA FORMADA POR HIDROXIQUINOLEINA SUSTITUIDA Y POR UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO, EL SODIO Y EL ALUMINIO, ADEMAS GALIO, PASANDO IGUALMENTE EN LA FASE ORGANICA, SE SEPARA, EN UNA PRIMERA FASE DE LAVADO, POR LAVADO AL AGUA, ANTES DE PROCEDER A LAS FASES SIGUIENTES DE REEXTRACCION Y SEPARACION QUE PERMITE LA OBTENCION DE GALIO, EL SODIO CONTENIDO EN LA FASE ORGANICA CARGADA EN CUYO CASO SE FORMA LA LEJIA DE SOSA. SE PUEDE RECICLAR DICHA LEJIA DE SOSA EN EL PROCEDIMIENTO BAYER. ADEMAS SE PUEDE EFECTUAR ESTA FASE DE LAVADO EN APARATOS QUE NO SE REALIZAN EN UN MATERIAL RESISTENTE A LOS ACIDOS. EN FIN, ESTA FASE DE LAVADO PERMITE REDUCIR EL CONSUMO DE ACIDO O CURSO DE LAS FASES DE EXTRACCION SIGUIENTES.
