MONOLITOS DE TIPO CRISTAL CONSTITUIDOS POR OXIDO DE SILICONA Y OXIDO DE TITANIO SE PREPARAN POR MEDIO DE LA HIDROLISIS DE UN HALURO DE TITANIO, ADICION DE LA ASI OBTENIDA SOLUCION COLOIDAL, SECADO DEL GEL ALCALINO CONSECUENTE Y SINTERIZACION FINAL. ENTRE LOS MONOLITOS DE TIPO CRISTAL ASI OBTENIDOS SON INTERESANTES, LOS QUE CONTIENEN A PARTIR DE UN 10% EN MOLES DE OXIDO DE TITANIO, PUDIENDO CONTENER HASTA UN 60% EN MOLES DE OXIDO DE TITANIO CON ESTE PROCEDIMIENTO. SE CARACTERIZAN POR UNA GRAN TRANSPARENCIA, UN BAJO COEFICIENTE DE EXPANSION TERMICA, Y POR SER AMORFOS EN UN AMPLIO MARGEN DE TEMPERATURA.
