EN UNA SOLDADURA DE FUNCIONAMIENTO MULTIPLE AUTOMATICA DE UNA JUNTA PLANA (37), POR EJEMPLO UNA JUNTA DE TIPO EN V, O UNA JUNTA DE TIPO EN U, UN SENSOR (44) QUE OSCILA DE FORMA TRANSVERSAL A LA JUNTA SOLDADA EXPLORA EN VARIAS PORCIONES DE LA JUNTA (F1,F2) UNA SERIE DE PUNTOS (41,41A,41B,ETC.) EN EL CONTORNO DE LA JUNTA. LAS COORDENADAS DE LOS PUNTOS SE DETERMINAN PARA DOS DIRECCIONES, PREFERIBLEMENTE EN LA DIRECCION VERTICAL Y EN LA DIRECCION LATERAL DE LA JUNTA. LOS PUNTOS SON LOS PUNTOS DE LAS ESQUINAS DE UN POLIGONO CUYA AREA ES CASI IDENTICA AL AREA DE SECCION TRANSVERSAL DE LA JUNTA.
