EL PROCESO IMPLICA LA ADICION CONTINUA DURANTE PERIODOS DE 12-50 HORAS DE UN MONOMERO OXETANO A UNA MEZCLA DE REACCION COMPUESTA DE UN INICIADOR DIOL Y UN CATALIZADOR CAPAZ DE CATALIZAR EL CATIONICO MONOMERO DE POLIMERIZACION CATIONICA CASI-VIVA, SIENDO EL INDICE DE ADICION TAL QUE EL CATALIZADOR SIEMPRE ESTA EN EXCESO ESTOIQUIOMETRICO SOBRE EL MONOMERO. LA TERMINACION DE LA POLIMERIZACION SE EFECTUA MEDIANTE LA ADICION DE SALMUERA. BAJO ESTAS CONDICIONES, SE PRODUCEN POLIMEROS DE PESO MOLECULAR AUMENTADO Y NIVELES REDUCIDOS DE IMPUREZA.
