Abstract
Un procedimiento para la preparación y regeneración de una suspensión para uso en baterias de zinc-aire, comprendiendo dicha suspensión zinc en particulas de una mezcla que comprende por lo menos los componentes siguientes: a. zinc que se ha oxidado por lo menos parcialmente a un producto de oxidación elegido entre óxido de zinc, hidróxido de zinc y zincatos; b. una solución acuosa que comprende hidróxido potásico y zincato potásico; y c. un ingrediente inhibidor inorgánico y/u orgánico efectivo para inhibir la interacción de zinc e hidróxido potásico en solución acuosa; cuyo procedimiento comprende constituir dicha mezcla y someterla, después de dilución con hidróxido potásico y agua, a las etapas siguientes: i) electrolizar dicha mezcla que contiene dicha suspensión en su forma diluida hasta que no mas de una cantidad preseleccioanda de zinc permanece en la solución en una célula que tiene un ánodo resistente a la corrosión y un cátodo que es no adherente al zinc y separar el zinc que sedeposita sobre dicho cátodo periódicamente con un método elegido entre cepillado, rascado, vibración yelempleode chorrosde líquido; ii) fraccionar el zinc separado del cátodo en partículas mediante cepillado, agitación o bombeo; y iii) combinar el zinc de la etapa (ii) con por lo menos hidróxido potásico adicional; con la provisión de que la densidad de corriente en el cátodo se preseleccione de modo que en conexión con la característica no adherente de zinc del cátodo, el zinc en partículas de electroganancia tenga una densidad de masa dentro de la gama de 0,2-1,1 g/cc y un área supercial dentro de la gama de 0,5-6 m 2 /g.
