LA ESTERIFICACION SELECTIVA DE UN ACIDO GRASO Y DE UN POLIALCOHOL SE LLEVA A CABO MEDIANTE LA UTILIZACION, COMO CATALIZADOR, DE ZEOLITAS Y ZEOTIPOS DE POROS DE GRAN TAMAÑO, PREFERENTEMENTE CON ANILLOS DE DOCE MIEMBROS (FAUJASITA, MORDENITA, ETC.), CON CARACTERISTICAS DE ACIDO O DE BASE; SE UTILIZAN ACIDOS GRASOS SATURADOS O INSATURADOS CON DE 4 A 22 ATOMOS DE CARBONO, PREFERENTEMENTE ACIDO OLEICO, PALMITICO, ESTEARICO E ISOESTEARICO, Y DIOLES O TRIOLES, PREFERENTEMENTE GLICERINA. LA REACCION SE LLEVA A CABO A UNA TEMPERATURA ENTRE 100 Y 190 (GRADOS) C, CON PRESIONES COMPRENDIDAS ENTRE 5 KPA Y 200 KPA. LAS ZEOLITAS Y LOS ZEOTIPOS SE PUEDEN UTILIZAR DIRECTAMENTE COMO CATALIZADORES O INCLUIDOS EN UNA MATRIZ TAL COMO AL2O3, SILICE, CAOLIN, ALUMINA-SILICE AMORFA O CUALQUIER OTRA MATRIZ CONOCIDA.
