UNA CAPA FINA SE FORMA EN LA SUPERFICIE METALICA MEDIANTE UN TRATAMIENTO CON UNA SOLUCION ACUOSA QUE CONTIENE UN COMPUESTO DE MOLIBDENO SELECCIONADO ENTRE ACIDO MOLIBDICO Y SALES DEL MISMO EN UNA CONCENTRACION DE 2,9 A 9,8 G/L CALCULADO COMO MOLIBDENO, ASI COMO UN COMPUESTO CAPAZ DE FORMAR UN HETEROPOLIMOLIBDATO, COMO ACIDO FOSFORICO, JUNTO CON UN MOLIBDATO. EL TRATAMIENTO SE REALIZA BAJO CONDICIONES DONDE LA SUPERFICIE DE METAL ES MANTENIDA EN UN POTENCIAL EN EL RANGO DE -600 Y -1800 MV/NHE. SE OBTIENE UN EFECTO DE PROTECCION CONTRA CORROSION Y/O DECORATIVO QUE PUEDE COMPARARSE CON EL EFECTO OBTENIDO MEDIANTE UN TRATAMIENTO DE CROMADO CONVENCIONAL, Y QUE EVITA LOS INCONVENIENTES MEDIOAMBIENTALES Y TOXICOLOGICOS ASOCIADOS CON EL TRATAMIENTO DE CROMADO.
