LA INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN GELES SIO 2 MODIFICADOS (XEROGELES), A SU ELABORACION Y SU UTILIZACION COMO MEDIOS AISLANTES TERMICOS. LOS XEROGELES SON ELABORADOS DE TAL MODO QUE SE ACIDIFICA UNA SOLUCION DE VIDRIO SOLUBLE ACUOSA, DE FORMA QUE EL ACIDO SILICICO GENERADO SE POLICONDENSA MEDIANTE ADICION DE UNA BASE PARA LA FORMACION DE UN GEL DE SIO{SUB,2}. A PARTIR DEL GEL OBTENIDO, EL AGUA SE ELIMINA MEDIANTE DESTILACION EXTRACTIVA CON UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO, QUE FORMA CON EL AGUA UN ACEOTROPO QUE SE SEPARA MEDIANTE ENFRIAMIENTO EN DOS FASES. EL GEL SE TRANSFORMA CON UN MEDIO DE SILILIZACION Y ENTONCES SE SECA EN TEMPERATURAS Y PRESIONES, QUE SE ENCUENTRAN POR DEBAJO DE LA PRESION CRITICA Y/O DE LA TEMPERATURA CRITICA DEL DISOLVENTE ORGANICO UTILIZADO EN LA ELIMINACION DEL AGUA.
