SE DESCRIBE UN PROCEDIMIENTO PARA LA PREPARACION DE UNA SUSPENSION SIN AGLOMERADO SIN PARTICULAS DE OXIDO DE HIERRO A ESCALA NANOMETRICA Y RECUBIERTAS DE MANERA ESTABLE, QUE COMPRENDE LAS SIGUIENTES ETAPAS EN EL ORDEN DADO: (1) PREPARACION DE UNA SUSPENSION ACUOSA DE PARTICULAS DE OXIDO DE HIERRO A ESCALA NANOMETRICA, QUE ESTAN PARCIAL O TOTALMENTE EN FORMA DE AGLOMERADOS, (2) ADICION (I) DE UN TRIALCOXISILANO QUE TIENE UN GRUPO HIDROCARBONADO UNIDO DIRECTAMENTE AL SI, A ESTE GRUPO HAY AL MENOS UNIDO UN GRUPO AMINO, CARBOXILO, ALCOXI, MERCAPTO, CIANO, HIDROXI, Y/O (MET)ACRILICO, Y (II) UN DISOLVENTE ORGANICO POLAR QUE NO SE PUEDE MEZCLAR CON AGUA CUYO PUNTO DE EBULLICION ES AL MENOS 10 C POR ENCIMA QUE EL DEL AGUA; (3) TRATAMIENTO DE LA SUSPENSION RESULTANTE CON ULTRASONIDO, HASTA QUE AL MENOS EL 70 % DE LAS PARTICULAS PRESENTES ESTEN EN UN INTERVALO + 20 % DEL DIAMETRO MEDIO DE PARTICULA; (4) QUITAR POR DESTILACION EL AGUA BAJO LA ACCION DE ULTRASONIDO; Y (5) SEPARACION DE LOS AGLOMERADOSNO DESINTEGRADOS.
