UNA MEZCLA DE HIDROCARBUROS AROMATICOS, QUE COMPRENDE ETILBENCENO Y AL MENOS UN XILENO, ES ISOMERIZADA MEDIANTE UN SISTEMA CATALIZADOR DE DOS COMPONENTES PARA CONVERTIR EL ETILBENCENO EN COMPUESTOS QUE PUEDEN SER ELIMINADOS DE LA CORRIENTE DE HIDROCARBURO AROMATICO Y PRODUCIR UNA CORRIENTE DE PRODUCTO EN DONDE LA CONCENTRACION DE PARA-XILENO ES APROXIMADAMENTE IGUAL A LA PROPORCION DE EQUILIBRIO DEL PARAISOMERO. EL PRIMER CATALIZADOR COMPRENDE UNA ZEOLITA CON TAMAÑO DE PORO INTERMEDIO QUE ES EFICAZ PARA CONVERSION DE ETILBENCENO. EL PRIMER CATALIZADOR ES PREFERIBLEMENTE SILICE LIGADO.
