LA INVENCION SE REFIERE A UN CATODO FRIO (1) PARA LAMPARAS DE DESCARGA GASEOSA, EN PARTICULAR PARA AQUELLAS LAMPARAS (6) QUE FUNCIONAN CON UNA DESCARGA IMPEDIDA DIELECTRICAMENTE. EL CATODO FRIO INCORPORA DOS ELECTRODOS CONDUCTORES CONTRAPUESTOS, ENTRE LOS CUALES SE ENCUENTRA UN FERROELECTRICO A MODO DE SANDWICH. AL MENOS UNO DE LOS ELECTRODOS PRESENTA UNO O VARIOS ORIFICIOS. CUANDO EL CATODO ENTRA EN FUNCIONAMIENTO, SE APLICA SOBRE AMBOS ELECTRODOS UNA TENSION CUYA POLARIDAD CAMBIA RAPIDAMENTE PARA PROVOCAR LA LIBERACION DE ELECTRONES EN LA SUPERFICIE DEL FERROELECTRICO.
