Abstract

Procedimiento para la fabricación de un implante de polietileno de UHMW, donde en una primera etapa se mezcla polvo de partículas de polietileno de UHMW con un líquido, que contiene vitamina E en una cantidad predeterminada, en una segunda etapa, el líquido es evaporado y la vitamina E es acumulada en una concentración predeterminada de 0,1 % < k < 0,4 % sobre las partículas de polietileno, en una tercera etapa, las partículas de polietileno son prensadas a temperaturas en torno a 180 C 240 C y a presiones en torno a 2 10 MPa para formar bloques o son extruídas para formar barras, en una cuarta etapa, a partir de los bloques o barras se corta el implante en su forma definitiva a través de conformación por arranque de virutas, en una quinta etapa, el implante es encerrado en una atmósfera de gas protector en una envoltura y es expuesto durante una esterilización gamma a una radiación de al menos 2,5 Mrad.
