DICHO CONTACTOR VA PROVISTO DE UN CONTACTO DE POTENCIA QUE GOBIERNA LA ALIMENTACION DEL MOTOR ELECTRICO DEL ARRANQUE Y AL MENOS UNA BOBINA QUE GOBIERNA EL DESPLAZAMIENTO DE DICHO CONTACTO. EL MECANISMO CONSTA DE UNA UNIDAD PARA LA GESTION DEL MANDO DEL ARRANQUE, ASI COMO DE UN TRANSISTOR, CONTROLADO POR DICHA UNIDAD, QUE GOBIERNA LA ALIMENTACION DE LA BOBINA O BOBINAS DEL CONTACTOR, Y SE CARACTERIZA POR QUE LA UNIDAD DE GESTION INCLUYE MEDIOS PARA BLOQUEAR EL TRANSISTOR CUANDO LA CAIDA DE TENSION (DU) EN UN PUNTO ALIMENTADO A LA TENSION DE LA BATERIA ENTRE DOS INSTANTES SUCESIVOS (T 2 Y T 2 + T S ) SIGUIENDO EL CIERRE DEL INTERRUPTOR DE CONTACTO ES INFERIOR A UN UMBRAL DETERMINADO.
