Abstract

The invention relates to a method for detecting operating safety-threatening damage in the railway traffic of rail vehicles which are assembled in the form of trains, especially high speed trains, with multi-axle driving gears mounted together in bogies. Damage that appears in the driving gears during travel and existing damaged areas in the track being travelled on are detected immediately by means of a bogie noise pattern which is formed from the output signals of sound pick-up devices allocated to each bogie. Each bogie noise pattern is analysed for temporal changes. The temporal changes in at least one series of bogie noise patterns belonging to consecutive bogies are compared with each other and evaluated.

Description

Procedure to recognize traffic damage railway

The invention concerns a method for recognize damages that impair the safety of operation in the rail traffic of grouped rail vehicles forming trains, especially high-speed trains, of the defined genre in the preamble of claim 1.

For rail traffic safety it is unavoidable recognize in time damages that may lead to considerable disruptions of operation or even to Accidents with risk for people. Such damages can show up both on the train, and here in the different bogies of the wagons and the tractor vehicle, as in the path of the track, and here in the body of the track or in the superstructure. So far it is they have carried out inspections, maintenance and controls of track and train park journeys at intervals regular, also testing materials in parts of the vehicle relevant to safety, such as the mechanisms of rolling and wheels of railway vehicles, to discover in time material fatigue, fissures and the like that, over term, lead to damage. Despite these regular checks and Intense, damage occurs between inspection intervals  they remain undiscovered until the next inspection and that they contain a considerable traffic risk railway

In a known procedure to monitor Railway vehicles grouped together forming trains (DE 298 11 208 U1)  they have been arranged in all bogies as sensors about piezoelements that are each associated with an axis and linked with a central evaluation unit through a union wired. The sensors capture the vibrations caused by irregularities in the rolling path of the wheels, for example when passing over a welded junction point on the rails, and transmit corresponding signals to the evaluation unit. The evaluation unit compares the signals with each other and recognizes a unchanged operation when all signals are equal and are present displaced in time. If one of the wheels presents a damage, for example a wheel break or a flattening in the perimeter of the wheel, only the sensor associated with this wheel emits a signal Since there are missing corresponding signals from the remaining sensors, the evaluation unit recognizes a disturbance and emits an optical or acoustic warning signal and induces possibly emergency braking.

The invention is based on the problem of indicating a  procedure of the class cited at the beginning with which immediately recognize at least damages that occur in the railway vehicles during running, so eventually the driver can take action corresponding, for example a forced braking, to avoid a increased magnitude of damage

The process according to the invention has the advantage of rolling mechanisms - grouped into bogies - of the different railway vehicles of a train, especially a high speed train, are monitored for noise continuously and online and with them they are revealed immediately, that is, immediately upon the appearance of the damage, the damage to the wheels or axle bearings, of so that corresponding consequences can be drawn on the part of the train driver. With the help of the noises collected in the Bogies, the procedure is in a position to differentiate between damage to the train, that is, in one or another bogie, and on the way of track. The recognition of damages is unique and provides a both quantitative and qualitative manifestation of the damage recognized. Due to the high number of sensors in the Bogies for noise capture and multidimensional comparison of the bogie models in the model analysis, the procedure has high security against breakdowns and a Small false alarm rate.

They follow from the other claims convenient forms of execution of the procedure according to the invention with executions and advantageous improvements of this last.

According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention is derived from all the noise models of the bogies a train noise model in which it is stored for each bogie noise model, in spatial coordination with the Bogie, depending on time, amplitude and phase in different frequency bands that cover the frequency domain in your whole. For model analysis, the temporary variations through the bogies in all bands of frequency.

Through this transformation of the models of Bogie noise in a train noise model that has in account the train's particularities and the analysis of models in the train noise model a possible widely safe differentiation against disturbances and univocal between damage on the train and on the track with a fee of False alarms strongly limited. Can be removed particularities of the track path, for example bridges and tunnels, and these do not lead to a damage alarm.

The false alarm rate in the recognition of  Track path damage is further reduced by causing An advantageous embodiment of the invention is incorporated in model analysis information about the track path currently traveled, which are taken from a network of paths digitally archived, and according to another form of execution of the invention are precalculated in model analysis, by means of the walking speed and known distances between bogies, moments of appearance of equal variations in the models of noise of the bogies, as well as, in case of coincidence of moments of the precalculus and its actual appearance, damage is recognized on the track.

According to another embodiment of the invention, the Disturbances and recognized damages are filed in indices of disturbances, specifically in association with the bogie or with the track path plan, so that you can verify so reproducible damage discovered in order to take action repair.

According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, is assigned to at least each wheel of the mechanism of roll in each bogie a sound transducer and this one is coupled acoustically well to the associated wheel. As sound transducer preferably structural sound transducers are used, but these can also be replaced by microphones. it's possible a combination of structural sound and sound transducers in the air. With the output signals of each sound transducer a wheel noise model is formed in which the noise or its Frequency spectrum is stored as a function of time. The Bogie noise model formation is done by adding and / or  logical combination of wheel noise models. Through the described derivation of the noise models of the bogies of the all the noise models of the wheels of a bogie are dramatically reduces the false alarm rate, because, for a side, the deviations caused by manufacturing in the noise behavior of different wheels are not interpreted as damage and, on the other hand, noise variations  caused by damage to only one wheel do not pass unnoticed in the total noise of the bogie.

The device represented in block diagram in Figure 1 to recognize damages that impair the safety of operation in railway train traffic, especially High-speed trains, features a processor 11 mounted on a central position 10 preferably provided inside the vehicle train tractor, whose processor is attached through a bus interface 12 with a bus system 13 and through another interface 14 with a signal line 16 leading to the post of 15 train driving. The bus system 13 extends from the central position 10 to the different bogies 17 of the vehicles individual railroads coupled forming the train. Also, in the central station 10 there are several data carriers 18, 19 that are linked with a processor 11. In data carrier 18 Z information about the train can be archived, as a type of wagon, type of tractor vehicle, number of wagons, class of Bogies and number of Bogies, and S information is archived on the track path, such as tunnels, bridges, needles, etc., that are preferably integrated in a plane of the path digitally archived. Since in general the trains are composed almost always in a more or less variable way, you have to, to achieve greater flexibility, train information is preferably provided from the driving position 15 to processor 11. The data carrier 19 serves as a so-called failure rate in which damages recognized by the device on the train or on the track in association with the corresponding damage sensor.

In the driving position 15 are arranged emitters 20, 21 of optical and acoustic warning signals that are activated in case of damage by means of generated control signals in processor 11, as well as a display unit 22 in form of a screen, on which the class is displayed, the place and quality of damage. By means of an input keyboard 23 the driver can communicate with the processor 11, being able, by For example, enter information for the individual train.

A bogie 17 of a train car is represented  schematically in side elevation in Figure 2 and in view in plant in Figure 3. Bogie 17 presents a mechanism of two-axis rolling with a total of four wheels 24 that are mounted in pairs in a solidarity way in rotation on one of the two shafts 29. Each shaft 29 is supported by two shaft bearings 25 that are housed in a frame 26 of the bogie 17. The bearings of axis 25 are covered on the front side with caps 27 in which have been made accommodation openings for issuers of measurement values Bogie 17 can revolve around a pivot mounted on the chassis of the wagon, not shown, which is housed in a plain bearing 28 arranged in a position centered on the  frame 26. Each train car has two bogies 17, so that In the composition of wagons that form the train is present a large number of bogies 17. In each accommodation opening of the shaft caps 27 is installed a sound transducer 30 that it is connected through a plug-in connection 31 with an electronics integrated in a box 32 for preamp and / or conversion analog / digital of the electrical output signals of the sound transducer 30. The electronics boxes 32 are fixed to the frame 26 of the bogie 17 and can be connected to the system of bus 13 via plug 33. As sound transducer 30 a structural sound transducer is preferably used. It is possible both the use of sound transducers structural, for example microphones, such as the combination of structural sound and airborne sound transducers. Each Bogie 17 presents in the execution example a total of four 30 sound transducers that are well coupled to the wheel associated 24 of the rolling mechanism, so that each 30 sound transducer picks up noise generated by the wheel associated 24. The output signals of the sound transducers 30 are preamplified and digitally converted, and the signals digital are transmitted to processor 11 through the system of Bus 13 built in broadband and filed there.

To recognize damage to vehicles railways or on the track currently traveled by the train is processed online in processor 11 the archived data in the manner described below. For the purpose of illustration, a development scheme of the signal processing, the different being grouped in blocks procedural steps

Of the plurality of bogies 17 existing in the train are shown in Figure 4 only the first and the 20th bogie 17 with the four 30 sound transducers for each Bogie 17, as well as the four electronics boxes 32 for the Preamp and A / D conversion of the output signals of the four transducers 30. The same consideration applies to other bogies 17. With the four digital output signals sound transducers 30 by bogie 17, filed in the processor 11, a noise model of wheel in which the noise or its spectrum of is stored frequency (amplitude and phase) as a function of time. That model of Wheel noise is represented by way of example in Figure 5 for the four wheel 30 sound transducers of the first Bogie 17. The amplitude (level in dB), only indicated here, is symbolized by the intensity of the frequency lines. It is possible an identical representation for the phase. The representation graph of the wheel noise models according to Figure 5 serves only to facilitate the understanding of the development of process. The functions are actually presented only like data sets With the four wheel noise models 24 belonging to a bogie 17 a noise model of Bogie by sum and / or logical combination of the four noise models wheel (block 36 in Figure 4). In the noise model of Bogie 37, as also represented by way of example in the Figure 5, the frequency spectrum is stored again in function of time, the amplitude being characterized (level in dB) by the intensity of the frequency lines. Block 36 works with an appropriate algorithm to ensure that a noise anomaly that occurs on one of the four wheels 24 does not pass unnoticed in the sum of the four wheels, but it keep clearly in the bogie 37 noise model. This has been represented by way of example in Figure 5 in relation to a damage of the third wheel 24 of the bogie 17. Wheels No. 1, 2 and 4 from Bogie 17 (seen from left to right in Figure 5) are fully functional and free from damage, and due to its class  of construction and assembly, show a frequency spectrum typical, in which the most marked frequency lines and constants in time may come from resonances of the wheels 24. The imbalances in the wheels 24 are also made perceptible as frequency lines, although these vary in function of the number of revolutions in the wheel 24. This model of Wheel noise is typical of the noise produced by wheel 24 during the march and can be considered as a so-called "fingerprint" of wheel 24. For the sake of greater simplicity, it has been assumed in Figure 5 that the three wheels No. 1, 2 and 4 have the same "fingerprint". The wheel No. 3 it has a damage, for example a chipping or a crack point in the tab, which leads to a resonance shift own the wheel and affects the frequency spectrum by shifting one or several frequency lines (see representation of noise model 35 for the third wheel 24). Since with a simple sum of the four models of wheel noise to form the bogie noise model would happen unnoticed the frequency line characteristic of the damage of the third wheel 24 in the frequency spectrum of the noise model of the bogie and possibly would not be detected, it is secured by a suitable algorithm in block 36 that this frequency line is stand out in the bogie noise model by means of high amplitude (level in dB), as shown by way of example in the bogie noise model 37 in Figure 5.

Figures 6 and 7 are shown to scale expanded other execution examples for a noise model of Bogie For the purpose of illustration, the amplitude evolution (level in dB) as a function of frequency during the instant t = 0. In the representation of Figure 6, has assumed that the bogie 17 with its rolling mechanism is totally intact, so this bogie noise model can be considered a so-called "fingerprint" of the bogie No. 1. Each additional bogie No. 2 to n (Figure 1) presented in general an autonomous "fingerprint" that differs somewhat from the previous one. In Figure 7 it has been assumed that during approximately 3.5 s damage has occurred in bogie No. 1; for example, a part of a rolling ring has been chipped of a wheel. This is made perceptible through a line of frequency with high level and by the appearance of other harmonics in the frequency spectrum The so-called "fingerprint" of Bogie No. 1 for unchanged operation has been modified as follows in significant degree.

For the recognition of damages proceed basically so that in an analysis of each noise model of Bogie will monitor variations in the time of the noise or its frequency spectrum, and furthermore they compare each other and they value variations over time in noise models of Bogie belonging to consecutive Bogies 17. From this analysis of models are then drawn conclusions about nature and the quality of damage that occurs in the rail vehicle and / or on the track. The damage class and its quality they are displayed in the display unit 22 of the workstation conduction 15 and the corresponding damage alarms are given to know by means of the warning signal emitters 20, 21. In case  of extreme damages are automatically launched as well Immediately necessary measures, such as braking of the train. If the damage is less severe or the damage detected they come from the track, these can be archived in the failure rate of data carrier 19 in association with places of damage, be they train bogies or the plane of the journey of track.

To simplify model analysis, we derive  first in block 38 according to Figure 4 of all the models of noise of the bogies No. 1 to n, using the information Z of the train, a so-called train noise model, in which they have stored for each bogie noise model, in association in the space with the position of the bogie 17 inside the train, the amplitude and the phase in different frequency bands as a function of time. This train noise model for a frequency band selected X has been represented by way of example in the Figures 8 to 11. For the case of the example in which the train has a total of sixteen bogies 17, have been represented here for each Bogie No. 1 to 16 amplitude (level in dB) in the band of X frequency as a function of time. For the purpose of simplification, in the representations of Figures 8 to 11 have been represented only individual scan values in a range of time of 2 s between the scan values obtained for this by means of a high exploration in time from the  Bogie noise models. For each additional frequency band the same representation is present, so that the sum of the frequency bands covers the entire frequency spectrum of, by example, 1 Hz - 3 to 4 kHz. The model analysis above described for the recognition of damages with surveillance of variations in time in the different bogie noise models and the comparison of variations in time in the models of consecutive bogie noise 17 are then performed in the block 39 by multidimensional comparison of variations in the amplitude time (level in dB) as a function of time, the frequency bands and bogies. In this model analysis, take into account both the travel speed v and the S path information from data carrier 18, such as places of bridges, tunnels, needles and Similar.

In Figure 8 it starts from an operation without train breakdowns All bogie rolling mechanisms No. 1 to 16 rotate correctly. The train noise model shows constant levels over time almost equal or levels not significantly different in all frequency bands.

In the representation of the train noise model  according to Figure 9 the schematics have been represented repercussions of going over a bridge over the noise model of the train. At time t = 2 s the four bogies of the first two wagons and the front bogie of the third car, like bogie No. 5, are on the bridge. Next, Bogies No. 6 a 13 pass successively over the bridge, so that after 4 seconds, all the bogies No. 1 to 13 are on the bridge. After 8 seconds, the first three bogies No. 1 to 3 they have left the bridge again, while the last three Bogies 14 to 16 have already reached the bridge. The comparison multidimensional level variations as a function of time and of the bogies No. 1 to 16 in the different frequency bands allows us to appreciate that it is not a damage here, but a particularity of the path of the track. By harnessing additional information S of the route taken from the support of data 18 confirms that in these moments, in which presents the train noise model represented in Figure 9, The train has passed through a bridge.

The impact of a defect in the bogie No. 5 on the train noise model. The amplitude (level in dB) of noise in Bogie No. 5 grows in degree significant and remains widely constant throughout the weather. In other bogies this level increase does not occur. This level increase is continued in the frequency bands in whose harmonics this frequency appears. The model analysis by multidimensional comparison of the amplitudes in function of time, the bogies No. 1 to 16 and the frequency bands gives as a result an unequivocal damage in the bogie No. 5. Helping with the height of the level and other information Z of the train is classified the damage and the damage quality is displayed in the unit of display 22 of the driving position 15. If the damage is only insignificant, so that a prosecution of the trip, this damage is stored in association with the bogie No. 5 in the data carrier failure rate 19. It is also checked here which wheel 24 of the defective bogie 17 shows the damage. To this end, the four noise models of the bogie wheels are investigated defective 17 for variations due to noise damage or in its frequency spectrum (see Figure 5). If the damage is so considerable that a continuation of the trip harbors a risk disproportionately high, this damage is indicated to the driver of the train by additional acoustic and optical warning signals, of so that it starts braking and stops the train. However, it it can also automate the forced braking of the train making processor 11 generates corresponding command signals to Start a forced braking.

The way in which a defect in the track path affects the train noise model is schematically depicted in Figure 11. A defect of this kind of track path may be based, for example, on a part of the track placed in a hollow or not sufficiently fixed, a slit in the rail branch and the like. As can be seen in Figure 11, the first bogie happens instantly
t = 2 s for the damaged site in the track path that is successively crossed by all bogies No. 2 to 16. When passing through the damaged site there is a significant level increase in the bogie No. 1, which moves in time through all the bogies No. 2 to 16. As already stated above, the different scan values are also represented in Figure 11 only every 2 s, so that the level increase in the bogies No. 2 to 5 is not visible. After another 2 s, the bogies No. 6 and 7 pass through the damaged site and after another 2 s the bogies No. 12 and 13. The multidimensional comparison of the level variations as a function of time, the bogies and the frequency bands result in a variation in time of the significant level increase through the bogies No. 1 to 16, so that the damage recognized from the train noise model is unequivocally assigned to the track path . Since the momentary location of the train during the trip is known, the track path damage is stored in the failure rate of the data carrier 19 in association with the location of the damage, so that, after an offline evaluation of data carrier 19, a repair team can remove the damaged site defined in the track path.

It should be noted once again that the models of Train noise represented in Figures 8 to 11 and the models of wheel noise and bogie noise models represented in Figures 5 to 7 have been plotted only for purposes to improve the understanding of the method according to the invention. These noise models are presented in processor 11 only as data sets that have to be treated with algorithms of corresponding evaluation.

In the execution example described, they are evaluated data sets in the frequency domain, what has been described above in detail using the amplitude. Without However, since information is also contained in the phase of noise, a comparable evaluation of the phase is also carried out in the frequency spectrum. As a result of relationships known between the frequency domain and the time domain  of signals and as a result of the mathematical possibility of transform the signals from the time domain to the domain of the frequency, and vice versa, data sets can be evaluated also in the domain of time, dispensing with a transformation prior to the frequency domain.
