Description

Fibra para cesped artificial.  Fiber for artificial grass.

Objetivo de la invencion Objective of the invention

The following invention, according to what is expressed in the statement herein, refers to an artificial grass fiber, which is of the type of fibers used in the manufacture of artificial grass carpets, weaving the fibers, thereby that the essential objective is to obtain a fiber with some elastic characteristics which make it recover its vertical position after being compressed, occasionally or temporarily, maintaining its original appearance for a long time. For this purpose, the extruded monofilament fiber made of polyolefins in polyurethane has a certain cross-section and the height of the fibers that form the grass mats have a certain length. In this way, the fibers that make up the artificial grass carpet are allowed to regain their vertical position after being subjected to successive loads.

Herein, a fiber for artificial grass is described, of special application in the manufacture of artificial fiber rugs for lawn in the installation of fields for different sports, such as soccer, golf, rugby or hockey.   Similarly, artificial grass fiber is also applied in other uses, such as gardens, access roads or decoration.

Antecedentes de la invencion Background of the invention

As is known, every day there are more organizations and sports clubs that choose to provide their facilities, playgrounds for different sports, with artificial grass as an alternative to natural grass grass since it requires less maintenance and offers a sensation similar to the of natural grass grass and presents improvements, such as that an artificial grass field can be used throughout the year and natural grass grass fields require a recovery period in which they cannot be used. These artificial grass rugs are made by weaving artificial fibers. On the other hand, in order to obtain artificial grass mats with fibers that maintain their characteristics over time, the monofilament fibers must have a high elasticity which causes them to recover their vertical position after they have been compressed occasionally or temporarily for a while, preventing the fibers from leaning on the ground. In this way, attempts have been made to obtain fibers made of different materials and sections in order to provide them with a high elasticity, having considered US Patent Nos. 6,432,505; EP 1 837 423 and PCT WO 2005/005731. Thus, in US Patent No. 6,432,505, a synthetic grass is described having a substrate and a plurality of grass filaments made of synthetic polymer anchored in the substrate, said filaments being provided with a cross-section in shape. of rhombus, with a longitudinal axis along from one end to the other end and a lateral axis placed in the middle so that the thickness of the filament gradually decreases from said lateral axis, substantially, symmetrically and smoothly on the longitudinal axis towards each extreme. European Patent EP 1 837 423 describes a synthetic grass comprising a grass carpet and some knots that extend therefrom, the knots comprising individual filament threads and at least one frayed thread and at least one number of said threads essentially consists of a mixture of high density polyethylene and linear low density polyethylene. In PCT patent WO 2005/005731, an artificial grass filament is described in which the filament has, in cross section, a central area and two supporting surfaces on opposite sides of said central area and with a divergent orientation, of such so that a head is formed that projects outwardly on one side of the divergent areas of the central area and on the side away from the divergent areas, the central area has a face which is essentially aligned in the place of said central area and which is combined with the adjacent faces of each support surface.

The thickness of the fiber for the artificial grass in the central part of the convex curved projections is the same for its entirety, such that in a preferred implementation the thickness of the fiber for artificial grass in the central part of the projections Convex curves is approximately 270 µm.

Since the elasticity of the fibers that form the carpets for the artificial grass is affected both by its section and by the height of the fibers that form it, in order to obtain a fiber for artificial grass with high elasticity that facilitates its recovery against loads Occasional or temporary successive and maintain its original appearance, a series of fiber samples from different sections have been analyzed in order to obtain the fiber that has a higher elasticity.

Thus, taking into account that both the height of the fibers that form the rugs for artificial grass and their section affect their recovery, this is their elasticity and using the procedure described in the invention patent P200930107, where A procedure for determining the degree of recovery in carpets of artificial fibers is described, an analysis has been carried out in order to evaluate the recovery of the fibers with different sections, for which the recovery index is determined as well as the speed of recovery, so that this parameter indicates the speed at which the material recovers after being released from a load.

From these premises, four samples of artificial grass carpets have been analyzed, with fibers of different sections that are made of extruded monofilament polyethylene and the fibers that form the carpets have a height of 60 mm, one of the samples being fiber object of the invention with a certain section which gives it high elasticity.

Thus, the section of the fiber object of the invention has been subjected to an analysis together with three more samples of different sections, so that the cross-section of the fiber 1 object of the invention (corresponding to the section sample 3) it has a flat rectangular general shape with its shorter rounded sides, being in the central part of one of its longer faces provided with a convex curved projection 2 and on its other longer face provided with a pair of curved-convex projections 3 in a symmetrical position with respect to its central axis.

In this way, the special section of the sample 3 based on the convex curved projections of its longer faces give it high elasticity in which the height of the fiber that forms the artificial grass mats collaborates.

Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment of fiber 1 for the formation of artificial grass carpets, it has a width D of approximately 1,400 µm.

On the other hand, the thickness d of the artificial grass fiber in the central part of the convex curved projections is the same in all of them, so that in a preferred embodiment it is approximately 270 µm.

Thus, as seen in Figure 2 of the drawings, the fibers 1 that form the woven beams of the artificial grass carpet have a height preferably of 60 mm, although, logically, the height could be any other.

As cited in patent P200930107, the procedure is specified based on the application to the samples of a constant compressive force of 1,400 kg for 72 hours, so that, once this time has elapsed, the load is released and the images of the same area after 1, 30 and 240 minutes. Before the application of the compressive force, an image has also been taken in order to know and define the total area occupied by the fibers, this value corresponding to 100 of the fibers in their equilibrium state.

The captured images are analyzed for each one of the times and the area occupied by the fibers is calculated, assigning the recovery 100 to the initial area occupied by the fibers before the application of the load so that the calculation of the recovery index It is carried out by applying the following relationship

Thus, applying the described methodology, the results of the recovery index have been obtained for the carpets formed of some fibers with a height of 60 mm, represented in the table of figure 3, after a time of 1, 30 and 240 minutes of being released from the cargo, being able to observe how section sample 3 presents a recovery rate of 100 already 30 minutes after the cargo is released.

Similarly, in Figure 3 of the drawings, the evolution of the recovery index is observed in the four samples analyzed at a fiber height of 60 mm, so that once the stationary time (240 mm) has been reached , the recovery increases considerably reaching, in the samples object of the invention, said value.

In figure 4 of the drawings, the classification of the result obtained from the four samples analyzed is described, being able to observe how the fibers of the sample 3 object of the invention are the ones that are most recovered, being logically provided, of the elasticity highest.

Finally, in Figure 5 of the drawings the evolution of the recovery index of the four samples analyzed at a height of 60 mm fibers is described, being able to observe how the sample 3 object of the invention is the one that presents an index of biggest recovery.

In this way, it is concluded that a fiber 1 for the formation of rugs for artificial grass with a rectangular general cross section with its shorter rounded sides and in the central part of its longer faces provided with a convex curved projection 2 and in its another longer face provided with a pair of convex curved projections 3 in a symmetrical position with respect to its central axis, has high resistance making the fibers that form the artificial grass mats recover their vertical position after having been subjected to some loads Compressive successive and making them maintain their original aesthetic appearance over time.

In a preferred embodiment of fiber 1 for the formation of artificial grass carpets, it has a width D of approximately 1400 µm.

On the other hand, the thickness d of the artificial grass fiber in the central part of the convex curved projections is the same for all of them, so that in a preferred embodiment it is approximately 270 µm.
