Coating method for tablets and the like comprising the step of applying to said tablets and the like a coating composition containing as essential ingredients (a) a hard wax substance selected from the group consisting of soluble resins and dispersible in water with a melting point of 45º C at least, (b) a film-forming resin selected from the group consisting of poly (methylstyrene), methylstyrene/acrylonitrile copolymers, venly butyral, poly (vinyl chloride), pentaerythritol and rosin alkyd esters, pentaerythritol esters of rosins modified, and terpene-based alkyd resins, and (c) an organic solvent system that boils below 85º C.
