Abstract

In a device by which the thread commencement, not fixed in an underwinding, of a cop to be fed to a winder can be grasped by means of a suction nozzle which is situated within a falling or sliding path of the cop and the mouth of which nozzle is constructed in the form of an annular gap 3 surrounding the cop, the cross-section of the suction passage 4 surrounding the gap 3 is constant and at the position where a suction conduit 10 opens into the passage 4 there is arranged a member 11 for the setting of the direction of flow of the suction air current. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, the passage 4 surrounds the gap 3 in the form of a loop. The member 11 is in the form of a circular segment secured beneath a circular disc 12 pivotable by a lever 13 between two positions so that the suction air current flows in the direction either of the arrow 5 or of the arrow 5'. In a modification (not shown), the conduit 10 extends perpendicularly to the passage 4 immediately beneath the pivot 13b of the member 11. In another embodiment. Figs. 2 and 3, the passage 4 extends concentrically around the gap 3 and is formed by two parts 41, 43 the upper 41 is rotatably mounted in a circular groove 42 of the lower part 43. The setting member 44 is mounted on the lid and is movable between the two positions shown. In modifications (not shown), the member 44 is secured to the part 43 instead of the part 41 or the member 44 is an. independent part in the opening of the passage 4 into the conduit 10. Barbed needles or pins as described in the parent specification may be provided.
