Abstract

An internal-combustion engine has an interchangeable cylinder liner 1 with a fixing flange 15 having abutment surfaces clamped between corresponding abutment surfaces on the cylinder block 3 and cylinder head 2, at least one of the abutment surfaces of the flange being inclined inwardly towards the lower end of the cylinder liner and the cooperating abutment surface of the head or block having substantially the same inclination. In a modification the abutment surface facing the cylinder block has a circular groove abutment surface with a cross-section partly in the form of a circular arc other modifications are described.
