Abstract
Compounds of the general Formula (I) (R 1 , R 2 = OH, C 1-6 alkoxy R 3 = C 1-6 alkyl) and their salts are prepared by either hydro. genolysing or hydrogenolysing and reducing as the case may require a compound of the Formula (II) (R 4 , R 5 = aralkoxy C 1-6 alkoxy R 6 = aralkoxy X = or hydrolysing a compound of the Formula (III) (R 7 , R 8 = acyloxy, C 1-6 alkoxy R 9 = acyloxy), optionally followed by salt formation and/or resolution. The preparation of starting materials of Formul[mu] (II) and (III) by standard methods and of 3,5 - dibenzyloxy - 4 - methoxyphenylacetone, 1 - (31,51 - dibenzyloxy - 4 - methoxyphenyl) - 2 - nitropropene, 31,51 - dibenzyloxy - 41 - methoxy - (2 - nitro - 1 - butenyl)benzene, 3,5 - dibenzoyloxy - p - anisaldehyde, 31,51 - dibenzoyloxy - 41 - methoxy - 2 - nitropropenylbenzene, 3,5 - dibenzoyloxy - 4 - methoxyphenylacetone and 31,41 - dibenzyloxy - 51- methoxy - 2 - nitropropenylbenzene is described. The compounds of the invention are hypotensive agents and may be administered in the form of pharmaceutical preparations containing them, with or without other (unspecified) active ingredients, in association with a carrier.
