Abstract

An apparatus for shaping at least the tire casing, comprising an inflatable annular diaphragm, a pair of annular end members located coaxially with the diaphragm, one of the members being adjacent and overlapping a circumferential edge of the diaphragm., the other member being located next to and overlapping the other circumferential edge of the diaphragm, the outer peripheral surface of at least one of the members being substantially cylindrical and with an outer diameter that is substantially equal to or less than the diameter of the diaphragm in deflated state, so that it is possible to remove the shaped casing from the apparatus, and means to move the end members axially, relatively, bringing them closer or apart from each other in equal magnitudes with respect to the average circumferential plane of the apparatus during inflation of the diaphragm.
