Abstract

1279968 Tyre building drums DUNLOP HOLDINGS Ltd 5 Sept 1969 [7 Sept 1968] 42683/68 Heading B7C A tyre building drum comprises an inflatable annular diaphragm 3, a pair of annular sleeves 7 overlapping the respective end 4 of the diaphragm, at least one sleeve 7 allowing unrestricted passage thereover of a tyre 2, and means for moving the diaphragm end assemblies 1 towards each other by equal amounts during inflation of the diaphragm. The axially outer ends of the sleeves are tapered at 11 and have an internal screw-thread 8 engaging a thread 9 on an end plate 6. The sleeves may be axially displaced relative to the plates thereby. The tyre, beads 14 remain free of restraint throughout inflation. [GB1279968A]
