Procedure for the preparation of derivatives of the dihydro-10,11 dibenzo [b, f] azapine of general formula **(See formula)** as well as their addition salts with acids and their quaternary ammonium salts, the symbols of the previous formula having the following meanings: R1 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl radical containing from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, R2 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, hydroxyalkyloxyalkyl, phenyl or phenylalkyl radical, the alkyl radicals and the alkyl portions of the remaining radicals contain from 1 to 4 carbon atoms and the phenyl nucleus is possibly substituted by one or more atoms of halogen and/or alkyl radicals, alkyloxyls containing from 1 to 5 carbon, amino or trifluoromethyl atoms, R3 represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, phenylalkyl radical optionally substituted by one or more halogen atoms and/or alkyl, alkyloxy or trifluoromethyl radicals, the alkyl radicals and the alkyl portions of the remaining radicals contain from 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and one of the symbols X represents a chlorine atom, the other symbols X each representing a hydrogen atom, characterized in that a compound of the general formula is reduced: **(See formula)** where R1, R2, R3, and X are defined as above - The base obtained is then optionally transformed into an addition salt with an acid or a quaternary ammonium salt.
