Abstract

A method of preparing a rubber composition having improved properties, which comprises mixing a rubber selected from the group consisting of natural and synthetic rubbers with a carbon black product selected from the group consisting of oven-type carbon blacks characterized by having a coloring power of at least 200, a pH value of at least 4, and a value for the ratio [coloring power +0.6 (Da)], where Da is the apparent diameter, of at least about 317, said being present carbon black product in amounts ranging from about 10 to about 250 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of rubber, and vulcanizing the mixture.
