Abstract

Process for the preparation of polyurethane surface coatings, in which the resulting polyurethane film has a tack index of less than 50 g, preferably less than 10 g; characterized in that it comprises applying to a substrate, while allowing to cure, a solution in an inert solvent with respect to the isocyanate groups of (i) a polyurethane that is free of isocyanate groups and that consists of the reaction product of an essentially linear hydroxyl terminated polyester, polyester amide or polyether and an organic polyisocyanate, (ii) of 0.01 to 0.15% by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethane, of a silicone compound containing at least two terminal hydroxycarbyl groups, from 0 to 30 recurring units having the formula - SiR2 - CH2 - O - and from 1 to 300 recurring units having the formula - - SiR2-O- where R represents a hydrocarbyl radical and (iii) a polyisocyanate curing agent.
