Abstract
Process for obtaining transparent polyamides by polycondensation of diamines and dicarboxylic acids or their halides, esters, nitriles or amides, respectively, in the manner known per se and under usual conditions, characterized by the use of: a) a mixture of α) 50 to 100 mol%, preferably 65 to 100 mol% of m-xylylenediamine, and 50 to 0 mol%, preferably 35 to 0 mol% of p-xylylenediamine, relative to the sum of the components of xylilendiaminás, and β) at least one straight chain aliphatic diamine containing 4 to 20 carbon atoms, preferably 6 to 12 carbon atoms, the portion of aliphatic diamine or diamimes being equal to 5 to 90 mol%, preferably 15 to 50 Mole%, relative to the sum of the diamine components α) and β); b) a mixture of at least one aromatic dicarboxylic acid containing 7 to 20 carbon atoms, preferably 8 to 14 carbon atoms; especially mononucleic dicarboxylic acids bearing carboxyl groups in the meta or para position, and at least one saturated aliphatic dicarboxylic acid containing 5 to 20 carbon atoms, preferably 6 to 12 carbon atoms, the portion of the dicarboxylic acid or acids rising aliphatic at 10 to 90 mol%, preferably 30 to 70 mol%, with reference to the sum of the aromatic and aliphatic dicarboxylic acids, or a mixture of the corresponding derivatives of the dicarboxylic acids.
