Abstract

Un procedimiento para efectuar la reticulación de una poliolefina que es polietileno, un copolímero de etileno con hasta 10 por ciente en moles de uno o más de los compuestos propileno, buteno 1 y hexeno 1. O un copolimero de etileno con hasta 50 por ciento en moles de acetato de vinilo o acrilato de etilo, que comprende (A) hacer reaccionar dicha polilefina con un silano de la fórmula general RR¿SiY2, en la que R representa un radical monovalente olefínicamente no saturado unido al silicio a través de un enlace silicio-carbono, y está compuesto de carbono, hidrógeno y opcionalmente, oxígeno, cada Y representa un radical orgánico hidrolizable y R'' representa un radical hidrocarbonado monovalente exento de insaturación alifática o un radical orgánico hidrolizable, en presencia de un compueto generador de radicales libres que es un compuesto de la fórmula general R''`COOR''`'', en la que R''` representa un radical alcohilo secundario o terciario, un radical cicloalcohilo que tiene más de 4 átomosde carbono, o un radical bencilo y R''`'' representa un radical alcohilo terciario o un radical cumilo, efectuándose dicha reacción a una temperatura a la que el compuesto generador de radicales libres tiene una vida media de menos de 6 minutos, y (B) exponer posteriormente el producto de (A) a la acción de agua en presencia de un catalizador de condensación de silanol.
