Abstract
Un método para producir metal esponjoso por medio de la reducción gaseosa de un mineral metálico oxídico en un reactor con lecho de movimiento vertical, en el que se hace fluir un gas reductor, que comprende monóxido de carbono o hidrógeno, a través del mineral metálico en dicho reactor y el gas efluyente de dicho reactor se enfría para eliminar agua del mismo, caracterizado porque el flujo y la composición del gas reductor se determinan en un primer lugar antes de que el gas reductor entre en dicho reactor, el flujo y la composición del gas reductor efluyente de dicho reactor se determinan en un segundo lugar después que el gas efluyente se ha enfriado, se determina la proporción en la que el material metalífero es procesado a través de dicho reactor y la proporción del metal esponjoso que se saca de dicho reactor se regula en respuesta a (a) el flujo y la composición del gas en dicho primer lugar, (b) el flujo y la composición del gas en dicho segundo lugar, y (c) la proporción de procesado del material metalífero, para mantener el prado de reducción del metal esponjoso producido por dicho reactor a un valor deseado predeterminado.
