Abstract

Un procedimiento con su instalación de realización para separar SO2 de una corriente de gas que lo contiene, por lo menos intermitentemente, en una concentración que es impermisiblemente elevada para descargarse en la atmósfera ambiente, con producción concomitante de ácido sulfúrico mediante el proceso de óxido de nitrógeno, en cuyo último proceso el gas que contiene SO2 fluye inicialmente a través de una zona de desnitración o a través de una zona de pretratamiento que constituye un primer sector de una zona de tratamiento de SO2, y luego a través de dicha zona de desnitración, a continuación a través del sector principal de la zona de tratamiento de SO2 y, a continuación, a través de una zona de absorción de óxido de nitrógeno, poniéndose en contacto la corriente de gas, en por lo menos uno de los dos sectores de la zona de tratamiento de SO2, con ácido diluido que tiene una concentración inferior al 70% en peso (55º Be) de H2SO4 que circula a través del sector respectivo de esta zona detratamiento de SO2, mientras que en la zona de absorción los óxidos de nitrógeno liberados en la zona de desnitración son absorbidos por ácido/sulfúrico, y se extrae ácido conteniendo nitroso con una concentración de H2SO4 del 70 al 80% en peso (55 a 63,5º Be) de la zona de absorción y se alimenta a la zona de desnitración.
