Abstract

Se ha descubierto que la 1-metil-isoguanosina está contenida en bajas cantidades en organismos marinos, particularmente en esponjas pertenecientes al género Tedania, que pueden recogerse en las costas marítimas australianas. Por consiguiente, el invento se refiere en un aspecto al aislamiento de 1-metil-isoguanosina de fuentes naturales, particularmente de organismos marinos, especialmente esponjas del género Tedania. Por consiguiente constituye una característica adicional del presente invento la 1-metil-isoguanosina en forma sustancialmente pura, o sea libre de sub-productos que se encuentran en estado natural. La 1-metil-isoguanosina puede aislarse de la fuente natural, por ejemplo de esponjas, por ejemplo mediante extracción con DMSO, agua y/o un disolvente hidroxílico orgánico, tal como un alcanol inferior, por ejemplo metanol o etanol.
