Abstract
Three classes of N-(tetrazole-5-yl)-prostaglandin-carboxamides have been synthesised with substituents in the lower lateral chain phenyl or substituted phenyl C-16 (Class 1), phenoxy or substituted phenoxy C-16 (Class 2) and n-pentyl, 2-hexyl or 2-methyl-2-hexyl C-15 (Class 3), using the corresponding intermediate acylimidazoles and 5-aminotetrazole. The three classes of prostaglandins perform different and selective biological activities which are antiulcerant (Class 1), fertility controlling (Class 2) and bronchodilatory or fertility controlling (Class 3).
