Abstract
El derivado de alcanolamina obtenido por el proceso de la presente invención posee un átomo de carbono asimétrico, a saber el átomo de carbono del grupo - CHOH- en la cadena lateral de alcanolamina y por lo tanto puede existir en formas racémicas y ópticamente activas. Se comprenderá que la presenta invención cubre la forma racémica del derivado de alcanolamina y cualquier forma ópticamente activa que posee una actividad estimulante -adrenérgica, siendo conocido el hecho de que un compuesto racémico se puede resolver en formas ópticamente activas, y como se puede determinar la actividad - adrenérgetica estimulante de dichas formas. Se comprenderá además que la actividad -adrenergica estimulante generalmente predomina en la forma ópticamente activa que tiene la configuración "S" absoluta de dicho grupo - CHOH.
