Abstract

Un aparato para leer ópticamente datos codificados en barras, en los que los bitios binarios están codificados en términos de barras de diferentes anchuras de la misma característica óptica separadas por áreas de la característica óptica opuesta que comprende: medios de percepción óptica para producir señales eléctricas representativas de las características ópticas de una superficie presentada a los mismos al ser producido movimiento relativo entre la superficie y los medios de precepción, teniendo dichos medios de percepción un manantial de luz y un perceptor de luz para recibir los rayos de luz desde el manantial de luz reflejados desde la superficie que está siendo percibida, incluyendo las señales de salida del preceptor un voltaje compensador desconocido; medios para determinar automáticamente el valor del voltaje compensador desconocido y almacenar continuamente el valor del mismo; medios para amplificar la diferencia entre las señales procedentes de los mismos de tratamiento de señal y el valor del voltaje desconocido almacenado y producir una señal de la salida representativa de la misma; medios para determinar automáticamente la característica de reflexión de la superficie percibida, tal como viene representada por la señal de salida procedente de dichos medios de amplificación, y medios para excitar automáticamente y periódicamente el manantial de luz, los medios de amplificación y los medios de determinación de la característica reflectante y para mantener la excitación de dichos elementos en respuesta a una señal de salida representativa de una característica de reflexión y para desexcitar automáticamente el manantial de luz en respuesta a una señal de salida representativa de la otra característica de reflexión.
