Abstract
Un procedimiento y su correspondiente instalación para cambiar el formato de la sección transversal de barras coladas en la colada continua, especialmente de acero, con utilización de una coquilla, ajustándose al menos una pared lateral de la coquilla respecto a una pared lateral opuesta de la misma, caracterizado el procedimiento porque, después de terminar la colada de la primera barra con un primer formato dado de sección transversal, de barra, se hace que se suelde a la masa fundida, todavía existente en la coquilla, de la primera barra colada, un acoplamiento de barra caliente que presenta una sección transversal adaptada a un segundo formato dado de sección transversal de barra colada; se hace descender el acoplamiento de barra caliente, extrayendo la primera barra hasta la zona de los cantos inferiores de las paredes de la coquilla, a una posición de inicio de colada; se hermetiza el acoplamiento de barra caliente respecto a las paredes de coquilla ajustadas al nuevo formato de sección transversal, y después de efectuarse el inicio de colada, se continua con la colada de la segunda barra de formato cambiado y eventualmente de composición química cambiada.
