SE SOMETE EL ACEITE PESADO A CRACKING TERMICO EN PRESENCIA DE PARTICULAS DE MINERAL DE HIERRO EN ESTADO FLUIDIFICADO DENTRO DEL REACTOR DE CRACKING TERMICO, CON EL FIN DE PRODUCIR ACEITES LIGEROS Y GASES DE CRACKING. SIMULTANEAMENTE, EL CARBONO FORMADO COMO SUBPRODUCTO ES DEPOSITADO SOBRE LAS PARTICULAS DE MINERAL DE HIERRO; DICHO CONJUNTO ES TRANSFERIDO DESDE EL REACTOR A UN HORNO DE REDUCCION, DONDE, POR CALENTAMIENTO, SE REDUCE EL HIERRO. EL ACEITE PESADO UTILIZADO ES ELEGIDO ENTRE LOS SIGUIENTES: ACEITE RESIDUAL DE DESTILACION EN VACIO, ACEITE RESIDUAL DE EXTRACCION DE ASFLATO CON DISOLVENTES, ACEITE RESIDUAL DE CRACKING TERMICO O CATALITICO Y GASOIL. EL MINERAL DE HIERRO PUEDE SER HEMATITA, MAGNETITA, LIMONITA, SIDERITA O MEZCLAS DE, AL MENOS, DOS DE ELLOS. ES DE EMPLEO EN LA PRODUCCION DE HIERRO ESPONJOSO.
