SE HACE REACCIONAR A UNA TEMPERATURA SUPERIOR AL PUNTO DE FUSION DEL POLIESTER UNA SAL METALICA IONIZABLE, COMO UNA SAL SODICA, DE UN COMPUESTO ORGANICO CON, AL MENOS, UN PROTON ACIDO DE FORMULA (I), DONDE R ES UN ANILLO AROMATICO SIMPLE, FUSIONADO O MULTIPLE, X ES UN ENLACE DIRECTO O UN GRUPO DE FORMULA (II) O (III), A ES UN GRUPO ACIDO CARBOXILICO, "N" ES UN ENTERO DE 1 A 4 "M" ES ENTERO Y POR LO MENOS 1, CON UN POLIESTER. LA SAL TIENE QUE TENER UNA CONCENTRACION TAL QUE CONVIERTA AL MENOS EL 4 POR 100 DE LOS GRUPOS FINALES DEL POLIESTER EN GRUPOS CARBOXILATO. SE PUEDEN AÑADIR AGENTES NUCLEANTES Y UNA CARGA FIBROSA.
