Abstract
PURPOSE: A modified polyester composition capable of forming a high modulus film and molded article with improved toughness and heat resistance, and high modules fibers with improved heat resistance, obtained by blending a thermoplastic polyester with a phenolic compound in a molten state.
CONSTITUTION: 100 Parts by wt of a thermoplastic polyester is blended with 0.5W 50 parts by wt. of a phenolic compound shown by the formula I or II (R is an aliphatic group; A is a phenolic residue having one on two aromatic rings in a molten state. Polethylene terephthalate, polybutylene terephthalate, and polycyclohexanedimethylene terephthalate may be preferably cited as the thermoplastic polyester. Arylene bis (dialkyl carbonate) and its oligomer may be cited as the phenolic compound.
