EL METODO COMPRENDE SOMETER UNA SOLUCION ACUOSA QUE CONTIENE FOTOSENSIBILIZADOR A LA IRRIADIACION CON LUZ VISIBLE, PARA OBTENER UN ESTADO EXCITADO DE LA MOLECULA DE FOTOSENSIBILIZADOR QUE SE PONE EN CONTACTO CON UN ACEPTADOR DE ELECTRONES, PARA OBTENER UNA ESPECIE QUIMICA ACPETORA, REDUCIDA, LA CUAL, EN DICHA SOLUCION AUOSA, EN PRESENCIA DE UN DONADOR DE ELECTRONES Y DE UN CATALIZADOR METALICO ESTABILIZADO EN FORMA COLOIDAL, REDUCE EL AGUA PARA FORMAR GAS HIDROGENO. EL CATALIZADOR EMPLEADO ESTA FINALMENTE DIVIDIDO EN LA SOLUCION AUCOSA CON TAMAÑOS DE PARTICULA NO SUPERIORES A 500 A, COMPRENDIENDO UN METAL NOBLE, TAL COMO PLATINO, PALADIO, RIDIO, RUTENIO, IRIDIO, OSMIO, PLATA, ORO, O MEZCLA DE LOS MISMOS. EL CATALIZADOR SE ENCUENTRA MEZCLADO CON UN AGENTE PROTECTOR, PERMEABEL AL AGUA, QUE PUEDE SER UN HOMOPOLIMERO DERIVADO DE UNA OLEFINA ACICLICA SUSTITUIDA POR HODROXI, CARBOXI O ALCOHILENOXI INFERIOR, CON UN COPOLIMERO DERIVADO DE LA REACCION DE UN ARALQUENO CON ACIDO DIACARBOXILICO ACICLICO INSATURADO; O UN RESTO HIDROCARBILO SUSTITUIDO CON UNO O VARIOS GRUPOS POLARES Y UN POLISACARIDO.
