CONSISTE EN LA TRANSFORMACION DE OLEFINAS CON MONOXIDO DE CARBONO Y ALCANOL EN PRESENCIA DE UN SISTEMA CATALITICO CONSITUTIDO POR UN COMPUESTO DE COBALTO Y PIRIDINA Y/O UNA ALQUILPIRIDINA A TEMPERATURA Y PRESION ELEVADAS; HIDROGENACION EN PRESENCIA DE UN CATALIZADOR DE CROMITA DE COBRE A TEMPERATURA ENTRE 150 Y 250 C. Y PRESIONES ENTRE 200-400 BARES, Y FINALMENTE TRATAMIENTO CON INTERCAMBIADORES DE IONES ACIDO. ESTOS COMPUESTOS TIENE APLICACIONES COMO INERMEDIOS DE SINTESIS.
