COMPRENDE LAS SIGUIENTES OPERACIONES: PRIMERA, SE EMITEN EN EL TUBO DE ENFUNDADO DEL ELEMENTO COMBUSTIBLE, DISPUESTO AL AIRE LIBRE, ONDAS ULTRASONORAS, CON UNA INCIDENCIA OBLICUA CON RELACION AL EJE DEL TUBO, A PARTIR DE UNA ZONA DE LA PARED LATERAL DE DICHO TUBO, PRODUCIENDO ESTAS ONDAS, POR REFLEXION SOBRE LAS PAREDES DEL TUBO DE ENFUNDADO, ONDAS DE PLACAS Y ONDAS DE LAMB; SEGUNDA, LAS ONDAS DE PLACAS SON CAPTADAS DESPUES DE UN CIERTO RECORRIDO SIGUIENDO LA LONGITUD DEL TUBO DE ENFUNDADO; Y POR ULTIMO, SE MIDE LA ATENUACION EXPERIMENTADA POR LAS ONDAS DE PLACAS, DEDUCIENDO POR COMPARACION CON OTROS RESULTADOS PATRONES UNA INFORMACION SOBRE LA PRESENCIA DE HUMEDAD EN LA BARRA COMBUSTIBLE.
