Abstract
Pore-combustion or swirl chamber for a combustion engine consists of an internal moulding, having an inner cavity, and an external heat insulating moulding which is adhesively bonded to or shrink fitted onto the internal moulding so that it surrounds at least the sidewalls of the internal moulding. The internal moulding is made of a material having a thermal conductivity of at least 12 W/m.K and the external moulding is made of a ceramic having a thermal conductivity of less than 10 W/m.K. The external moulding provides excellent thermal insulation to reduce heat losses from the inner cavity and the internal moulding is only cooled to a small extent at the incoming cold fuel jet impact point.
