Abstract

Keksintö koskee menetelmä syövän osoittamiseksi tai seulomiseksi yksilöllä, jossa menetelmässä määritetään mainitun yksilön mahan limakalvon gastriittifenotyyppi, määritetään solufibronektiinipitoisuus mainitusta yksilöstä otetusta näytteestä, kuten seeruminäytteestä, valitaan cut-off-arvo solufibronektiinille ja verrataan solufibronektiinipitoisuutta valittuun cut-off-arvoon. Atrofisen gastriitin tila yhdessä solufibronektiinipitoisuuden, joka on yli valitun cut-off-arvon, kanssa on sitten osoitus mahasyövästä mainitulla yksilöllä.The invention relates to a method for detecting or screening for cancer in an individual, the method comprising determining a gastritis phenotype of the gastric mucosa of said individual, determining the cellular fibronectin content of a sample taken from said individual, such as a serum sample, selecting a cut-off value for cellular fibronectin, and comparing the cellular fibronectin content to the selected cut-off value. A state of atrophic gastritis in combination with a cellular fibronectin content above the selected cut-off value is then indicative of gastric cancer in said individual.
