Abstract

L'invention a pour objet un procédé de préparation d'un polymère hydrosoluble à partir d'un monomère à insaturation éthylénique par polymérisation à radicaux libres dans un milieu de polymérisation aqueux en présence d'un système redox comprenant un agent oxydant et un agent réducteur métallique chélatable ayant une forme réduite et oxydée et également en présence de cations chélatables présents comme impuretés inhibant ladite polymérisation. Suivant ce procédé, on additionne le milieu de polymérisation d'un agent de chélation qui complexe les cations chélatables présents à titre d'impuretés plus rapidement que la forme réduite de l'agent réducteur métallique chélatable, la quantité d'agent de chélation ajoutée surmontant efficacement les effets inhibants des cations chélatables présents à titre d'impuretés, et on additionne également le milieu de polymérisation de cations chélatables inertes vis-à-vis de la polymérisation, lesdits cations chélatables inertes étant complexés plus lentement que les cations chélatables présents comme impuretés mais aussi rapidement ou plus rapidement que la forme réduite de l'agent réducteur métallique chélatable, la quantité de cations chélatables inertes représentant un excès par rapport au pouvoir complexant total de l'agent de chélation.
