Abstract

The sound proofing for rear engined road vehicles has a removable sound proof panel fixed beneath the engine and clutch of the vehicle. The sides of the panel slides into channels fixed to the vehicle. Some play is provided between the panel and the grooves so that the panel does not become wedged when the vehicle body deforms. The removable panel is housed between two fixed sound proofing panels sealing off the engine compartment, an entry for the cooling air for the engine being provided in the vertical vehicle body wall.
