L’invention concerne un ensemble (1) comportant un moteur électrique (10) et un variateur de fréquence (2) comportant : un redresseur (6),un bus de tension continue (7) connecté au redresseur (6),un onduleur (20) connecté au bus de tension continue (7), l’onduleur (20) comprenant une pluralité de bras de commutation (30, 31, 32) comportant chacun au moins un interrupteur (26),une unité de commande (4) configurée pour commander l’onduleur (20),un organe de limitation de tension configuré pour limiter une surtension du bus de tension continue (7) et/ou en amont du redresseur, l’organe de limitation de tension comportant au moins un des interrupteurs (26) des bras de commutation (30, 31, 32) et le moteur électrique (10).
