Pharmaceutical compsn. contains a phenyl-substd. pyridine or pyridazine cpd. of formula (I), or its salt, together with a standard carrier or excipient. - R1 = lower alkyl substd. by heterocyclyl, carbamoyl substd. by heterocyclyl-lower alkyl or lower alkylamino-lower alkyl; N-contg. heterocyclic carbonyl (opt. substd. by lower alkyl) or ureido substd. by lower alkylamino-lower alkyl; (a) R2 = nitrophenyl; X is N or CR3; or (b) R2 = lower alkyl; X is CR'3; R3 = lower alkyl; R'3 = nitrophenyl. - More specifically, R1 = morpholino-alkyl carbamoyl; R2 = nitrophenyl; X = CR3; most pref. is 3-(2-morpholinoethylcarbamoyl)-2 methyl-4- (3-nitrophenyl)-6- phenylpyridine (Ia) and its di-hydrochloride.
