Abstract

Preparation for the treatment of schistosomiasis, containing living Gram-negative bacteria suspended in a liquid suitable for intravenous injection. The preparations are used in a new therapy for the treatment of schistosomiasis by infecting the schistosomes with living bacteria while protecting the patient against the injected bacteria by antibiotic treatment. The new preparations can cure schistosomiasis with a single injection. The bacteria used are very pathogenous for the schistosomes but not for the patient. [CH518364A]
